Fight the Fire Nation, Draft a Mini-NBA Team, and Walk in a Very Silly Manner

• Avatar: The Last Airbender – Fire Nation Rising was a 2022 release from Patrick Marino, Andrew Wolf, and The Op that brought the …Rising series of co-operative games to the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Now Funko Games is going to see whether folks want to try a different spin on a co-operative game set in that same world with the Q3 2023 release of Avatar: The Last Airbender – Crossroads of Destiny, a 2-4 player game from Prospero Hall.

Here’s a short take on the game design:

As the heroes of Team Avatar — Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph —you’ll adventure through story encounters and experience exciting combat challenges inspired by the iconic series. Gain allies, master new skills, and learn to work together to defeat the Fire Nation!

In more detail, the game contains 15 narrative encounters and 12 replayable combat challenges, inspired by the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. You can jump to any challenge, or play through a multi-game campaign. Choose your destiny, and unlock new skills with dozens of unique character abilities.

• Monopoly Prizm: NBA Edition, which Hasbro released in April 2023, seems like an attempt to stretch how far you can use the Monopoly brand for a game that isn’t Monopoly.

The game includes Panini NBA trading cards — one 8-card Starter Pack and two 4-card Prizm Packs featuring Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, and other players — and you draft a team of four players. Instead of buying properties, you try to take control of NBA games and collect bonus points when opponents land on them. To earn points, you compare the stats on your Panini cards against others when competing in playmaker challenges and All-Star Contests. You can also use the Panini cards to trade NBA players or draft new ones. At the end of the game, whoever has the most points wins.

You can expand the drafting possibilities with the Monopoly Prizm: NBA Edition – 2022-2023 Booster Box, which contains 24 random cards, four per pack, with ultra-rare and chase cards in the mix for those who want combine collecting with playing.

• In April 2023, Upper Deck Entertainment added a new franchise to its long-lived Vs. System 2PCG game system with the release of Vs. System 2PCG: Mortal Kombat 11, which features more than two dozen characters from the video game.

• CMON is taking pre-orders for the April 2024 release of Zombicide: 2nd Edition – Monty Python’s Flying Circus: A Rather Silly Expansion, which might seem like a rather silly expansion indeed, but given that CMON has already released Zombicide expansions featuring The Boys, Ghostbusters, and Iron Maiden, well, why not at this point?

The pre-order also features an exclusive Gumby Pack that features six Gumby characters that can be used as either survivors, companions, or an abomination.
